Ashley Robinson is a retired 10-year WNBA veteran from Grand Prairie, TX. Ashley graduated from South Grand Prairie High School in 2000. She went on to play for the legendary Pat Summitt at The University of Tennessee. The Lady Vols competed in 3 Final Fours and 2 Championship games. Robinson got her degree in Journalism with an emphasis in Public Relations and a minor in Business.
Ashley was the 13th pick of the 2004 WNBA draft to the Phoenix Mercury. She spent 2 seasons with the Mercury before she went to Chicago in the expansion draft in 2006. Robinson spent a little over a month in Chicago before she got traded to the Seattle Storm. Ashley would go on to spend 6 seasons in Seattle. In 2010, Robinson checked “Champion” off of her bucket list. The Storm swept the playoff series. Robinson was traded to the Washington Mystics for the 2012 season. Signed back with Seattle in 2013.
Robinson played overseas ball during her off seasons from the WNBA. She played in Israel, Turkey, Russia, Spain, Czech Republic, Australia, and South Korea. Robinson suffered a severe achilles rupture while playing in her final season of professional basketball in South Korea.
After a successful career in the WNBA, Ashley spends her time raising her son (Destin aka Dez), growing her businesses and giving back to amateur student athletes through her basketball training programs, AKR Athletics club and AKR Texas Summitt. Youth basketball in Dallas has produced many WNBA caliber players. Ashley now coaches, mentors and tutors student athletes on how to achieve the same success through camps, clinics, mentoring sessions, and personal lessons.
Ashley has more than 25+ years of experience in women’s basketball. At a young age she was able to be around the creme de la creme of the elite women’s basketball world. She believes that is one of the main reasons why she was able to make it to the highest levels in her sport. Robinson’s mission is to give as many girls and boys that same experience she had as a child. Ashley says, “if our youth can see, touch and feel what they want to become then they will believe those goals can and will be achieved.”
Private lessons and small group basketball training are the fastest way for youth sports players to get better because each workout is customized to the specific needs of the player -- and the workout is very focused (more reps, higher intensity, and undivided one-on-one attention from the coach). Each session lasts one hour. Regular weekly workouts allows Coach Ashley the opportunity to custom mentor athletes. Girls & Boys are welcomed.
Are you ready for your future superstar’s game to go to the next level? It will not happen over night. It will not be one miracle workout or a miracle trainer. It’s a lifestyle and daily commitment. “Winners are not born, they are self-made.” -Pat Summitt
